Configure POS General Preferences

The General tab contains most of the basic preferences used by the sales person for creating POS and Kiosk transactions. This includes defaults for transactions, taxation setup and drawer configurations.

The table below describes the function of each field found in the General tab.

Field Name Description
Workstation ID Defines the unique identifier for each workstation. You may add a workstation ID by typing the id in the Workstation ID field; this will be automatically added in the POS Server. Select the workstation ID to be used for the POS transactions.
Default Customer The assigned customer displayed for each new transaction. To change the default customer, refer to Change POS Customer.
Default Location The default location assigned for every transaction. You may change the location as needed.
Default POS Transaction The default transaction assigned in the POS screen. You may select order, sale, return and quote as the default transaction.
Default Kiosk Transaction The default transaction assigned in the Kiosk screen. You may only select between order or sale as the default transaction for Kiosk stations.
Allow Sales Allows the user to process invoice transactions. If unchecked, the Sales button is disabled on the Connected Business POS screen and the user will not be able to convert the order to invoice.The default Transactions for POS and Kiosk will automatically change.
Allow Orders Allows the user to process order transactions. If unchecked, the Order button is disabled on the Connected Business POS screen and all resulting transactions related to Orders will be not be processed. The default Transactions for POS and Kiosk will automatically change.
Allow Quotes Allows the user to process quote transactions. If unchecked, the Quote button is disabled on the Connected Business POS screen and all resulting transactions related to Quotes will not be processed.
Allow Returns Allows the user to process return transactions. If unchecked, the Return button is disabled on the Connected Business POS screen and all resulting transactions related to Returns will not be processed.
Allow Change Class Template If checked, the user is allowed to change the default class template when creating a new customer or a new ship to customer. Otherwise,the default class template cannot be changed.
Allow Change Price Allows the user to change item price. If unchecked, the Change Price button is disabled on the Connected Business POS screen.
Allow Add Customer Allows the user to add customer. If unchecked, the Add Customer button is disabled on the Connected Business POS screen.
Tax by Location If checked, the system will use the tax defined in the location (warehouse). If unchecked, system will use the tax defined in the cusotmer's shipto. Tax by Location only works on Flat Rate.
Deposit cash/cheque payments Allows the user to deposit cash and/or check payments. You can check this data through the back office using the Connected Business application.
Override Sales Rep If checked, the current user would be the sales rep linked to the transaction. A sales rep must be linked to the user account for this to work. When unchecked, the current user and the customers' default sales rep would be both linked to the transaction.
Logoff User after Each Transaction If checked, Connected Business POS will automatically log-off after each transaction.
Use Cash Drawer When checked, POS will try to open the cash drawer after completing an order, sale or return, when cash/check is involved.
Cash Drawer Logical Name The name of the cash drawer to use. Please see your cash drawer vendor's manual on how to set up the cash drawer name.
Track Drawer Balance Allows you to track incoming and outgoing cash/check amounts. You can enter an opening balance when opening a workstation. A z-tape report would be printed when closing a workstation.
Blind Close Only admin users can view the z-tape report upon closing of workstation. A user can be an admin if his user role is part of the POS admin user roles.
Use Item Description If checked, the user can view the full Item Description. If unchecked, the Item Code will be displayed instead.
Use Virtual Keyboard If checked, a virtual keyboard is enabled and is displayed on the screen whenever you need to type details of the transaction. Otherwise, keyboard will not be displayed in the screen.
Use ISE Image When checked, POS will use the same item images from your chosen eCommerce site. If unchecked, POS will use the image defined on the Item form of Connected Business under the General Tab.
Website Your eCommerce site.
Image Size The user can set the image size to use for all POS items. The options are medium, large, icon, minicart or mobile.
Notification Interval Minutes Controls the frequency with with POS will request an update from the Connected Business database, including newly created pickup notifications.
